Legal holidays (2020)

The legal holidays (cf. art. 102 par. 1 of the Introductory Act to the Customs Treaty with Switzerland, LR 631.112.1) are: New Year's Day (January 1), Epiphany (January 6), Easter Monday (April 13), Ascension of Christ (May 21), Whit Monday (June 1), Corpus Christi (June 11), Assumption of Mary (August 15), All Saints' Day (November 1), Immaculate Conception (December 8), Christmas Day (December 25), St Stephen's Day (December 26).

Legal holidays which are equivalent to any Sunday (cf. art. 18 par. 2 of the Labour Act, LR 822.10) are: New Year's Day (January 1), Epiphany (January 6), Easter Monday (April 13), Labour Day (May 1), Ascension of Christ (May 21), Whit Monday (June 1), Corpus Christi (June 11), Assumption of Mary (August 15), Nativity of Mary (September 8), All Saints' Day (November 1), Immaculate Conception (December 8), Christmas Day (December 25), St Stephen's Day (December 26).

August 15 is the national holiday (cf. art. 1 of the Law on the National Holiday, LR 145.0).

Further legal holidays are: Easter (April 12), Whitsun (May 31).

Bank holidays (2020)

Bank holidays are: St Berchtold's Day (January 2), Candlemas (February 2), Pancake Tuesday (February 25), St Joseph's Day (March 19), Good Friday (April 10), Christmas Eve (December 24), New Year's Eve (December 31).
